Trial date set for Labrador City man facing murder charge

LABRADOR CITY, N.L. — Trial dates have been set for a Labrador man charged with first-degree murder. Vincent Ward, 32, is scheduled to go on trial March 17- April 8, 2021 in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Ward is charged in relation to the April 2018 death of 28-year-old Vincent Belanger Dompierre of Montreal in Labrador City.  Ward has been in custody since that date.

He pleaded not guilty in early 2019 to the murder charge and a charge of using a firearm in connection with the incident.

Jury selection for the trial will take place in Happy Valley-Goose Bay March 16.
