Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are reportedly renting out a luxury condo in Miami while they wait for construction to begin on their permanent home in Miami Beach’s “Billionaire Bunker.”
The couple, former advisers to Ivanka’s father President Donald Trump, are set to live in the Arte condominium, the Wall Street Journal first reported . The oceanfront residential building designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio is considered one of the most luxurious developments in Miami’s Surfside neighbourhood.
Rent prices for one of the 16 units hover around US$40,000, CNN reported , and the typical sale price for a unit ranges from US$7 to US$15 million. The Wall Street Journal reported the penthouse suite sold for US$33 million to a New York private-equity executive.
The striking design rings memories of a Mayan pyramid, with deep wraparound balconies on every floor. Each apartment has direct elevator entry with fingerprint recognition technology, Roman travertine marble ceilings, European white oak floors and parking spots with temperature control.
There are numerous amenities in the luxe residence. It features a 75-foot indoor, heated lap pool, a private tennis court on the rooftop, a gym, a children’s playroom and a lounge for residents. Though there is round-the-clock security, the couple will bring additional security.
Days before the president left office, he signed a memorandum that extended Secret Service protection of the Trump family by six months at no personal cost. Under federal law, Secret Service protection would only be afforded to the president and First Lady Melania for the rest of their lives and to their 14-year-old son Barron until he turns 16.
One of the Arte’s developers has a connection to the Trump family. Alex Sapir leads Sapir Organization, an enterprise started by his late father Tamir Sapir who left the Soviet Union for the U.S. and oversaw a large New York real estate portfolio. The Sapir Organization helped the Trump Organization build the Trump SoHo hotel in New York.
The swanky condo will put Trump and Kushner closer to a 1.8-acre plot of land they purchased in December for US$32 million on the exclusive Indian Creek Island. Nicknamed the “Billionaire Bunker,” the island is highly sought after by the ultra-wealthy who desire the extreme security features, which include armed security monitoring the waters 24/7.
A source told CNN that the couple will live in the high-end apartment for at least a year while construction of their new home on the private island is completed.
