There were almost a dozen traffic incidents in the metro area Saturday during the first snowfall of the season.

Cars started crashing and going off the roads within about thirty minutes of snow beginning to accumulate and the incidents kept happening throughout the day. Most incidents involved single vehicles but at least three involved multiple vehicles.

One man was lucky to escape serious injury when his car struck a guardrail on the T.C.H. at the cloverleaf just outside Mount Pearl Saturday afternoon. The car went under the rail which came very close to going through his windshield. The car was extensively damaged.

A three-vehicle crash on Kenmount Saturday night sent one woman to hospital. Her car was rear-ended by a pickup and a third vehicle, another pickup, was damaged in the incidents. The injuries were not considered serious.

Another collision on James Lane about an hour earlier involved a vehicle hitting a parked pickup. There was no information available as to whether there were any injuries at that incident.

Multiple other vehicles went off the road in various other areas.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.

In all cases, roads were snow-covered, wet and slushy.
