The blaze was reported just before 1 p.m. on Back Line and when firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department and Goulds Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames and black smoke was rising into the sky.
The water tanker truck from the Paradise station was also called in to help supply water to the scene as there were no fire hydrants close to the fire.
Firefighters concentrated on saving a barn full of cows as well as a nearby home and winds helped in the efforts as they were, mostly, blowing away from the structures.
It took firefighters nearly two hours to completely extinguish the fire.
The RNC is investigating the incident.
