FLORENCE, N.S. — Two area fire departments worked together Tuesday to battle an early morning structure fire.
Members of the Florence fire department were the first to respond to a fully-engulfed two-storey structure on the Bras d'Or Florence Road at around 1:20 a.m.
Florence firefighters stretched hose lines and a supply line to protect a nearby house, while firefighters from the Sydney Mines department were called in to provide mutual aid.
After a majority of the blaze was extinguished, crews completed an interior search of the building and no occupants were found.
Both crews were clear from the scene by 4 a.m.
