Trudeau answer kids’ coronavirus questions

On Thursday, CBC Kids News encouraged youngsters to submit short videos with their coronavirus questions for Justin Trudeau.

In a video released Sunday morning, the Prime Minister answered a few of the submissions with Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer.

Montreal siblings told the pair they were worried about what would happen to them if their parents came down with COVID-19.

“I know it’s a scary time, but you also need to know you’re in one of the best countries in the world for people to be there for each other,” Trudeau said. “We’re going to make sure nobody goes through this alone.”

Tam encouraged children to discuss those fears with their parents.

Asked what could be done to support healthcare workers other than cheering them on, Trudeau said Canadians should focus on remaining healthy by staying at home and washing their hands.

The Prime Minister also faced a question he’d previously been answering for his kids: When will school resume?

“Maybe school isn’t so bad when compared to sitting at the kitchen table,” he joked.

Trudeau isn’t the first world leader to address children during the coronavirus pandemic. In March, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg delivered a press conference for kids.
