SYDNEY, N.S. — Two Glace Bay men are to return to court in December to enter pleas on drug trafficking charges.
Cecil John Sparrow, 60, and Joseph Sparrow, 62, both of Phalen Road, are both charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and single counts of possession of property (money) obtained by crime.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in Glace Bay in September.
Both accused continue their release on conditions and are scheduled to enter pleas Dec. 5.

Trial set on assault charges 

A Membertou woman has elected to be tried in provincial court on charges including assault with a weapon.
Tavia Ellen Paul, 21, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon (knife), two counts of uttering threats and three counts of mischief relating to damages to a computer, window and door.
The offences are alleged to have occurred June 23 in Membertou.
After entering not guilty pleas, Paul was assigned a trial date of June 24.

Plea date set on weapon offences

A Glace Bay man is to return to provincial court in December to enter pleas on a host of weapon offences.
Terrance Hector MacIntyre, 49, of Yorke Street is charged with four counts of mischief, four counts of discharging a firearm with intent, two counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and single counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
The offences are alleged to have occurred Sept. 2 in Glace Bay.
MacIntyre has been released on conditions and is now scheduled to enter pleas to the charges Nov. 18.

Accused remanded after multiple breaches 

A Victoria County man is on remand after being charged with 31 counts of violating the conditions of his release.
Darryl Stephen McNeil, 47, of Kempt Head, was released on conditions in September but is now alleged that during October and November, violated the terms on at least 31 occasions.
The violations included failing to report, in person, to police, failing to abide by a curfew, failing to abide by a residency requirement and failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
McNeil was released on conditions on charges that include nine counts of breaching release, two counts of assault, two counts of possession of stolen property (roofing shingles and a VISA card), and single counts of robbery (involving an individual), uttering a threat, mischief, and fraud.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between November 2019 June 2020.
McNeil is now scheduled to return to provincial court Nov. 18.

Guilty plea entered 

A Louisbourg man has been fined after pleading guilty to a reduced drug charge.
Kyle Blair Bowles, 29, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine. He was scheduled to stand trial on the charge in provincial court.
However, Bowles pleaded guilty to a reduced offence of possession and was fined $1,000.
The offence occurred in Sydney in October 2019.
