SYDNEY, N.S. — One of two Sydney residents charged with drug and weapon offences has been released on conditions.
Courtney Reid-Boone, 22, of Sunrise Drive, Westmount, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in ecstasy, auto theft and possession of stolen property over $5,000 (vehicle).
The offences are alleged to have occurred in Sydney Nov. 12.
She is also charged with two counts of breaching court orders by having contact with an individual she was ordered not to communicate with and by associating with individuals who have a criminal record. Those offences are alleged to have occurred Nov. 24 in Sydney.
Reid-Boone has been released on conditions that include refraining from alcohol and drugs not prescribed her and is to return to provincial court Dec. 21 to enter pleas.
Also charged Stephen Frederick Hanna, 36, of Rotary Drive, who is now scheduled to have a bail hearing Monday.
Hanna is charged with seven counts of breaching court orders, two counts of auto theft, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of evading police, and single counts of being in a vehicle knowing there was a restricted weapon (.12-gauge shotgun), careless transport of a weapon, careless transport of ammunition and possession for the purpose of trafficking in ecstasy.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in Sydney between August and November.

Trial set for pair charged with trafficking

A provincial court trial date has been set for two Westmount residents charged with drug trafficking.
Derek Francis O’Neil, 43, and Sherry Fanning, 45, both of Rosary Drive are both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and possession of property, money, obtained by crime.
The offences are alleged to have occurred Sept. 11 in Westmount.
A trial is now set for July 22.

Trial set on trafficking offence

A Sydney woman has been assigned a provincial court trial date after entering not guilty pleas to drug and weapon offences.
Jocelyn Marie Dixon, 69, of St. Albans Street is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in hydromorphone, careless storage of a weapon (a 30-30 rifle), and possession of money knowing it was obtained by crime.
The offences are alleged to have occurred Sept. 1 in Sydney.
Dixon is now scheduled to stand trial July 20.

Sentenced imposed on drug and weapon offences

A former Sydney man has been sentenced on weapon and drug offences.
Neil Thomas Brenton, 36, was sentenced on two counts of possession of a handgun with no license and possession of cocaine.
He was charged in October 2019 after police found him asleep in a vehicle in Westmount. The weapon was not loaded.
He was initially charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking but the charge was reduced to possession.
Brenton, who now lives in Alberta, is to complete a one-year probation period during which he is to abstain from drugs not prescribed him. He was also ordered to forfeit the weapon to the Crown and fined $200.
