Two charged in connection with home invasion

Two Sydney women charged in connection with a home invasion are to return to provincial court to enter pleas.
Tiffany Nicole Diflavio, 32, of Green Road is charged with two counts of assault and single counts of mischief and committing a home invasion.
The offences are alleged to have occurred Nov. 19, 2020 at a residence on Lingan Road.
Diflavio is now expected to enter pleas Feb. 22.
Also charged is Emily Eileen Laureen Tubrett, 22, of Sydney River who is charged with three counts of assault and single counts of home invasion, mischief, impaired driving and driving with a blood/alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.
Tubrett is now scheduled to enter pleas Feb. 25.

Trafficking charges withdrawn

Charges of drug trafficking have been withdrawn against a Glace Bay man.
Cecil John Sparrow, 70, of Phalen Road, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and a single count of possession of property (money) obtained by crime.
The offences were alleged to have occurred in Glace Bay last September.

Guilty pleas entered 

A Sydney Mines man has entered guilty pleas on a host of offences and is now scheduled to be sentenced in March.
Kevin Thomas Forrest, 25, has pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching court orders, and single counts of assault, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and mischief.
A number of other charges are also expected to be dealt with at the time of sentencing.
Forrest, who continues to be on remand, is now scheduled to be sentenced March 12.

Trafficking charges withdrawn, arrest warrant issued

Drug trafficking charges against a Glace Bay man have been withdrawn while an arrest warrant has been issued for a second accused.
Jodi Bernard Steele, 42, of Hill Street was scheduled to stand trial on three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking involving hydromorphone, oxycodone and Ritalin. The offences are alleged to have occurred March 7, 2019 in Glace Bay.
Steele had elected to be tried in Supreme Court and a trial date was assigned.
The charges have now been dismissed.
Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued for Patrick Alphonse Farrell, 51, of Shaft Street who is also facing three trafficking offences.
The warrant was issued after Farrell failed to show for his trial.
