The Canadian Forces began searching for a possibly missing single-engine aircraft in the Kiamika Reservoir area, near Mont-Laurier in the Laurentians.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, who were assisting with ground searches, a possible distress signal was detected.
Ingrid Asselin, spokesperson for the SQ, said the distress signal was not yet validated.
“We have been informed of a distress message (Mayday) in the area, but we can not confirm details at this time, “confirmed Daniel Lebouthillier, spokesperson for the Canadian Forces.
“We are searching for the plane in the area,” he said. “The aircraft conducting the search is a Griffon helicopter from Trenton, Ont.”
