Burin Peninsula RCMP are investigating a break and enter Saturday at Avery’s No Frills grocery store in the Marystown Mall.
At about 5:30 a.m., police received a report of an alarm sounding at the business.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the store was broken into.
A large sum of cash was stolen from a safe located in an office area, the RCMP said in a news release.
Video surveillance indicates the suspect forcefully entered the business around 5:20 a.m. and left the area before the officers got there minutes after receiving the alarm call.
The suspect was wearing black clothing, including a hoodie with a skull with red eyes on the back.
