BAY ROBERTS, N.L. — A 44-year-old Brigus man faces a number of charges, including sexual assault, following an RCMP investigation that originated at the Bay Roberts Retirement Centre this summer.

On Aug. 16, Bay Roberts RCMP responded to an allegation that Christopher Power, a personal care attendant, sexually assaulted a resident of the home. Police say the resulting investigation also revealed Power used forged and falsified documents at the retirement home, presenting himself as a qualified Licensed Practical Nurse.

Formal charges were laid against him last week, including sexual assault, two counts of uttering forged documents, three counts of falsifying documents and one count of using the title of Licensed Practical Nurse when not qualified to do so.

Power is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 18

The RCMP says that during the course of the investigation, the management of Bay Roberts Retirement Centre was fully cooperative.
