Arson remains unsolved in Sydney Mines

SYDNEY MINES, N.S. — Crime Stoppers is seeking public tips to help solve a garage fire that occurred last summer in Sydney Mines.

Police and fire services responded to a fire at 624 Shore Road on Friday, Sept. 6, at about 10:30 a.m.

The owners of the property were not at home at the time of the fire. The garage and its contents were destroyed.

An investigation later determined the fire to be an act of arson.

In a second incident of arson in Sydney Mines, police and fire services responded to a fire involving a travel trailer in the back yard of a property at 40 Church St. on Oct. 31, around 11:40 p.m.

Witnesses reported seeing a small black car with a loud exhaust left the area just prior to the fire being observed.
