CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - A P.E.I. man who was banned from driving after two convictions for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle was sentenced recently to 30 days in jail after he was caught behind the wheel again.

Daniel Joseph Bambrick, 25, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified.

The court heard that on Nov. 9 at around 12:45 p.m., an RCMP officer on patrol saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed.

A check of the licence plate found the driver was under a driving prohibition.

Bambrick was under two concurrent three-year driving prohibition orders after convictions in 2015 for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

His licence was also suspended since 2015 because of outstanding fines.

hearing his sentence, Bambrick told the court he normally gets a drive to work but wasn’t able to get his usual ride the day he was caught.

Along with the jail time, Bambrick will be under a further one-year driving prohibition.
