After a long break from hosting the Winsloe United Church Ceilidh, Dino Dunsford is back and looking forward to hosting a ceilidh on the fourth Monday of every month, starting Monday, May 27.
On his first night back, he will be welcoming the duo of Keelin Wedge and Eddy Quinn, who have often filled the venue in the past.
Quinn, a singer/songwriter and local author, is lead singer for the award-winning Island musical group Fiddlers’ Sons. He will be singing some of his traditional songs, as well as sharing some stories from his book, “Island Characters”. Both his book and CDs will be available to purchase at the ceilidh.
Wedge, a multi-instrumentalist and singer, is also a member of Fiddlers’ Sons and will be performing some of her music, playing jigs and reels on the guitar as well as on the fiddle. This high-energy performer will also give a vocal performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
In addition, Dunsford will be performing songs from a variety of different artists and will be joined by the rest of the band, Dave Berrigan, Brian Knox, Brian Knox and Judy Lowe.
The ceilidh, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is a fundraiser for Winsloe United Church. The venue is wheelchair-accessible, has plenty of parking and is located at 121 Winsloe Rd. Tickets are $10 at the door with doors opening at 6.30 p.m. There will be a light lunch served.
