SYDNEY, N.S. — A simple notice placed in mailboxes on three streets transformed a Sydney neighbourhood into a scene reminiscent of Christmas time.
The notice from resident John Duffy asked his neighbours to light up their homes to honour the dedication of all health-care workers, from those in hospitals to those doing homecare, as Cape Breton and the country takes on the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thursday night, residents along Centre Street, Lorway Avenue and Trinity Avenue, consented to Duffy’s request and lit up the night to celebrate the efforts of those working the front lines.
