CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A ceilidh this evening in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Rd. will feature Treble with Girls.

The award-winning Island folk music group is made up of Sheila MacKenzie, Jolee Patkai, Maxine MacLennan and Norman Stewart.

There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the wheelchair accessible and air-conditioned hall. A lunch will be served during the intermission. The hall is licensed. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is at the door. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 902-213-3924. 

Treble with Girls is a diverse musical group from Eastern P.E.I. who have been performing together several years. All four members, Sheila MacKenzie, Jolee Patkai, Maxine MacLennan and Norman Stewart have had successful solo careers with various ECMA, Music P.E.I. awards and nominations and each has individual recordings to their credit. The group’s musical background covers many genres from Celtic and country to folk and traditional. Together they have created their own unique blend that highlights their beautiful harmonies and strong original compositions.

The group encompasses all that is P.E.I., as is showcased in their original recording, “The Ceilidh Song”, penned by Patkai and MacLennan. This song garnered National attention in the 2015 CBC Searchlight Competition making it all the way to the final rounds out of a pool of 3,300 entrants.  

All members of the group sing and play multiple instruments. Stewart plays guitar, MacKenzie plays fiddle, MacLennan plays guitar, mandolin and percussion and Patkai plays guitar and percussion.
