CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —
On Sunday, Nov. 10, Phase II and Friends will present “We Remember - A Musical Tribute to All Defenders of Freedom”, their tribute to those who fought and died for freedom and those who continue to stand guard over our democracy.
This performance is sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, and admission is free. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. with music beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to some wonderful music, this show will have some special touches. Rev. John Clarke has agreed to participate with a special reading. Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown will also read a brief selection chosen for the occasion, as will Charlottetown MP Sean Casey.
This special production will feature the music of John McDermott, Bob Dylan and Garth Brooks. It will also contain songs by Elvis Presley, Roger Whittaker, Johnie Reid and Rod Stewart. A few lively singalong tunes from the war years will be sprinkled in for fun.
Each year around this time, Phase II and Friends do a concert at Saint Paul's in support of an important project of the Outreach and Social Justice Committee. This year, the band has chosen the Remembrance concert as its gift to this project. Therefore, the city's sponsorship contribution will go entirely to the church. As well, there will be a donation box at the back of the church for anyone who feels they wish to contribute to the Christmas basket project of Saint Paul's. Many families struggle most at Christmas, and the Outreach Committee, through the generosity of supporters, makes Christmas a much brighter time for many families.
