VIDEO: Artwork inspired by cancer journeys in Cape Breton

Jackie Warren, 58, stands near her multi-media art piece entitled "A Part of Me," which tells her story of her journey through life and cancer. Diagnosed with leukemia in 2000, Warren said she worked on it from February until the Thursday before this year's Art of Living Art show, which opened on Saturday. With the help of her artist mentor Dinao MacCormick, an expressive arts therapist, Warren decided to display her artwork by mixing original photographs with Plexi-glass boxes on stands that use different items to describe different parts of MacCormick's life and the people who've supported her through her cancer journey. The Art of Living show runs until Sept. 30, on the third floor of the Cape Breton Centre for Art and Design, and it raises money for the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. NICOLE SULLIVAN/CAPE BRETON POST
