Rum Ragged win three Music Newfoundland and Labrador Awards

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Rum Ragged came away as the big winners at this year's MusicNL Awards Show. 

The traditional and folk quartet took home honours for celtic/traditional artist of the year, album of the year for "The Thing About Fish" and were voted Telegram Fan's Choice Entertainer of the Year. 

Three other nominees each won a pair of awards.  

Sherman Downey won solo of the artist and SOCAN songwriter of the year; Justin Fancy picked up rising star of the year and country artist of the year honours; while Nick Earle and the Restless Hearts were winners of group of the year and rock artist of the year winners. 



The awards were presented by hosts Petrina Bromley of "Come From Away" and Phil Churchill of The Once in a live stream gala and concert event from a sound stage in St. John's.   

Performances featured Rube & Rake and The Heavy Horses, Rum Ragged and Rachel Cousins. Also hitting the stage were Quote The Raven, Rosemary Lawton, David Pomeroy, Natasha Blackwood, The Hellfire Club, Silver Wolf Band and Sherman Downey.
