An interactive installation in Halifax created by American artists is in the running for an international award.
A display which was part of RESPONSIVE International Light Art Project in Halifax in Sept., 2019 was chosen to compete in the 2020 CODAawards, given out by CODAworx, an online platform which connects artists, designers, and fabricators with organizations which commission artwork.
Sixteen jurors picked 100 of the most impressive entries from around the world and put them up to a public vote.
Voting started at June 18 and will continue until June 30.

The Halifax entry is called Nervous Structure. It was created by Detroit-based artists Annica Cuppetelli and Cristobal Mendoza.
The interactive light display was projected on the rear of the Dennis Building in downtown Halifax as the vertical lines reacted to the movement of people on the sidewalk below.
In the entry for the award, the artists said their intent was to “create a playful moment in a public space that could be viewed and interacted with by all.”
The two projects with the most votes will win a people’s choice award. Canadian entries make up 10 per cent of the finalists with entries from Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Quebec. Award winners will be announced August 30.
