As of Friday, March 5, applications will be accepted at the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island (CFPEI) for the 2021 Scholarships and Community Grants.

In 2021, the foundation will be granting more than $500,000 to Island students and charitable organizations.

More than 25 scholarships are available to students who are continuing their post-secondary studies in a variety of areas. Scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 dollars and representing a wide range of criteria are open to students graduating from Island high schools this year as well as some which are open to students presently studying at a post-secondary institution.

In addition, more than a dozen community grants are available to qualified charitable organizations. Grants addressing a wide range of causes that benefit Island communities are available to P.E.I.-based, non-profit organizations with registered charitable status.

A description of all grants and scholarships as well as application forms can be found on the foundation’s website at cfpei.ca. All applications must be completed online with the majority of applications closing on May 1.

  • The CFPEI distributes funds to all corners of the community in arts and culture, education, health, social services and the environment. 
  • The foundation currently manages over 100 individual funds with a combined value of close to $14 million and works with its donors to realize their philanthropic goals, matching their interests with the needs of the community. 
  • In 2020, more than $500,000 was awarded through the foundation, with another $500,000 planned for 2021.
