CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Christian Reformed Church on Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown will be the site of an outdoor gospel concert on Sunday, Sept. 20.

This concert, which will feature a wide variety of gospel styles, will be performed by Phase II and Friends and will begin at 2 p.m. (rain date: Sept. 27).

As the concert will be held outside, everyone is asked to bring a chair and a sweater in case it's cool.

Gerry Hickey, spokesman for the group, says the concert was to have taken place on March 21, but had to be rescheduled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) pandemic.

“Although the band's roots are in rock ’n’ roll, we all love Gospel music and look forward to this performance. We have a reputation for diversity in our music, and the song list will certainly reflect this.”

The audience can expect traditonal numbers like I Saw the Light and Will the Circle Be Unbroken, as well as Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah using the lyrics written by P.E.I.'s Kelley Mooney. As well, the audience will hear songs recorded by Rod Stewart, Elvis Presley and a great Irish group, known as Celtic Thunder.
