TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. — The Prince County Fiddlers are set to host their third National Fiddle Day Concert at the Britannia Hall in Tyne Valley on Saturday, May 18.

The concert will feature returning special guests Mary Smith on fiddle/guitar, Jason Campbell on fiddle and Amelia Parker, a fiddler/dancer from Nova Scotia.

Amelia returns to the concert with impressive accomplishments. In 2018, she placed second in her age group in the Canadian Old Time Fiddling Championship in Shelburne, Ont. She also won the junior championship at the New England Regional Scottish Fiddling Championship, which qualifies her to compete in the junior category at the U.S. National Scottish Fiddling Championship in 2019.

“We are also thrilled to have 16-year-old step dancer Abigail Rogers joining us throughout the program,” says Cathy Campbell, concert master of ceremonies and president of the Prince County Fiddlers.

“Britannia Hall is an excellent community venue that provides a platform for preserving traditional music and dance. The audience can expect a wonderful uplifting evening filled with lots of great tunes, spirited songs and lively dance.”

She has performed with ceilidhs across the Island, at Canada Day celebrations, on the IWK telethon and Arts in Motion, as well as with the Barra MacNeils, Festival of Small Halls, Ireland Meets Scotland and Atlantic Blue with Tara MacLean.

“We are anticipating a great crowd again this year”, says Campbell. “We value a program with variety that engages youth. Britannia Hall is an excellent community venue that provides a platform for preserving traditional music and dance. The audience can expect a wonderful uplifting evening filled with lots of great tunes, spirited songs and lively dance.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the two-hour concert starting at 7:30 p.m. All seats are $8.
