CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Pendys with Michael Pendergast, up-and-coming singer/songwriter Shane Pendergast and fiddler Andy Doucette will take the stage for the ceilidh on Friday, Oct. 30, in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall at the Irish Cultural Centre.

There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the air-conditioned hall, and a light snack is served during the intermission. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the music of this popular Island folk group. For more information, call 902-213-3924. The hall is located at 582 North River Rd., Charlottetown.

Michael Pendergast, who will be on accordion and lead vocals, hails from Tracadie Cross, where he grew up in a household full of music. His father, Reg, entertained with music and his mother, Eileen, organized the rest of the family into the semblance of a family choir and drove Michael to piano lessons weekly. Michael has played to younger audiences for many years, so he has a very large following of young children who know him as the Music Man.  He has also released two children's albums, four traditional music albums and two gospel albums.

Shane Pendergast also hails from Tracadie Cross, the grandson of two Irish tenors and the son of Michael Pendergast. Shane has just recorded an album of folk music steeped in East Coast tradition and performed regularly during the winter in Toronto, where he was attending film school.

Shane's uncle, Andy Doucette, is from Deblois and is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the fiddle, guitar and bass. He will bring an Acadian flair to the night with his lively fiddling and fast tapping feet.

Come early to be assured of a seat as capacity of the hall (100 seats) fills up quickly when The Pendys are the featured performers.
