St. Pius X Parish mission set for Oct. 27-29

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A parish mission will be held at St. Pius X Parish, 106 St. Peters Rd., Charlottetown from Sunday, Oct. 27 to Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. 

The mission presenter, Fr. John Lacey, was ordained to the priesthood in Tracadie on May 30, 1975, for the Diocese of Charlottetown. From that time until his retirement, he served at various parishes throughout the Island. He was also chaplain at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a period of time.

The theme of the mission is “Embracing Our Spiritual Journey-Celebrating Our Baptismal Dignity”. Lacey’s presentations will begin at 7 p.m. with prayer, music and mission talk. They will conclude with a time for refreshments and hospitality in the foyer.

Three evening talks are planned. 

Sunday, Oct. 27 –“Reference to the Meaning and Implication of our Baptismal Call” with specific reference to being called “priestly peoples”.

Monday, Oct. 28 –“Reflecting on the Call to be a Prophetic People” including anointing with oil as a reminder of the baptismal commitment.

Tuesday Oct. 29 –“Reflection on the Servant Call” implied in what the baptismal ritual refers to as “the kingly call”.

The mission will conclude with the closing mission talk and the celebration of the eucharist followed by refreshments and hospitality.

All are invited to attend.
