Marram is presenting Wild Violets, a new series of concerts showcasing soloists on Prince Edward Island, curated by Laurie Murphy.
The first concert, Songs of Love, on Friday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m., will feature countertenor Vhikthør Vhølkhem, born in the United Mexican States and a recent graduate of the Holland College School of Performing Arts (SoPA).
With an outstanding fondness to orchestral music, opera works and their fusions, Vhølkhem’s repertoire will include pieces from different backgrounds and languages, such as traditional opera arias, jazz standards and Latin-American songs brought to life by the pianoforte and operatic voice. Accompanying Vhølkhem on piano is Paulina Hernandez, a classically trained pianist from Mexico studying her second year in piano performance at SoPA.
