Montague Regional High School
Jack Munro, Jack King, Alec MacDougall, Katelyn Drake, Briana Creed and Lilla Garnhum, along with teacher advisor Chantelle Beaton, attended the Canadian Student Leadership Conference in B.C. while there, Beaton was awarded the 2019 Leader of Distinction at the conference.
There are no classes on Oct. 11 (provincial learning day) and on Oct. 14th (Thanksgiving).
The next MRHS Parent Council Meeting is Oct. 28, 5:30 p.m., in the library conference room. Everyone is welcome.
Colonel Gray Senior High School
Sydney Hegarty started the end of September as Colonel Gray’s youth service worker.
The Vancouver Film School will be in student services at lunch on Oct. 8 and the University of Western Ontario visits on Oct. 9.
There will be no classes for students on Oct. 11 due to a professional learning day.
Parents are reminded to sign and return the student information sheet, acceptable use agreement form, media release and the low-risk activity sheets. As well, student fees should be looked after as soon as possible.
Steven Liu, a KEY Club member, received a $1,500 Rising Youth Grant. This will be used to purchase flags representing the various origin countries of the student population, which will then be hung from the ceiling in the school cafeteria.
A short bus evacuation drill will be held on Oct. 16 for all students.
Morell Regional High School
With one month now officially in, the school is reminding parents and students to ensure they are up to date with school fees, athletic fees, appropriate documents signed and submitted and the other necessary housekeeping tasks that go along with September.
The student council will soon be starting its annual fundraising activities, and members of the school community are encouraged to show their support. The money raised is basically re-invested in the school to plan activities that support student interests and a positive learning environment.
A reminder to students and parents that there will be no classes on Oct. 11 as this is a provincial learning day for staff.
Charlottetown Rural
Western University will visit at 9 a.m. to meet with students. Those who plan to attend this session must sign up in student services.
Rural students Bob Lund Coles, Adam MacKenzie and Reece Hunter recently had the opportunity to participate in the Canadian Student Leadership Conference held in Abbotsford, B.C., Sept. 24-28. Students learned from world renowned guest speakers and participated in many team building, leadership and community service initiatives. Rural teacher Ms. Dixon had the opportunity to chaperone and participate in a variety of professional development opportunities during the week.
Westisle Composite High School
On Oct. 11, there are no class for students due to professional development and no classes on Oct. 14 for Thanksgiving.
The next Parent Council meeting is Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the library. All are welcome.
With the Christmas Market approaching, student workers are needed for Nov. 2-3. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 2 and noon to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3. Anyone interested in volunteering should see Mrs. Morgan as soon as possible.
The CSLC (Canadian Student Leadership Conference) was held in Abbotsford, B.C., and P.E.I. was well represented. Heather Moyse, a keynote speaker, was joined on stage by P.E.I. students/reps. Westisle’s Mary Fran Williams, Maggie Gard, Laurel Dunbar, Callie Getson, Matt Smith and Chris Ramsay, along with supervisor, Mr. Harris are excited to bring this positive energy back to the halls of Westisle.

Kinkora Regional High School
There is no school on Oct. 11 (provincial learning day) and Oct. 14 (Thanksgiving Day).
Kinkora Regional High School is once again holding its popular frozen pie fundraiser, Oct. 1-15. To place an order, contact a student or call the school at 902-887-2424.
The 39th annual KRHS Terry Fox Run was Sept. 18 with all funds going to cancer research. This year $1,281 was raised.
Back by popular demand, the annual KRHS Hockey Pool will be available Oct. 7-18. All the proceeds go right back to KRHS athletics.
The annual Blazer Beef Supper will be held at Kinkora Place on Oct. 26, 4-6 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Take-outs will be available.
The High School Reports feature runs in The Guardian on Mondays during the school year. All Island high schools are welcome to send in contributions.
