The Sister Antoinette DesRoches Historical Committee launched its sixth annual history quiz on Feb. 5.

This game-like questionnaire, which contains 10 questions with multiple-choice answers, revolves around several aspects of the French/Acadian presence in P.E.I.

The objective of the quiz is to foster awareness on the history and cultural heritage of Island Acadians.

The historical committee suggests the quiz become a group activity in a classroom, with the family, at a dinner with friends or during a meeting.

The quiz will be published in La Voix Acadienne – P.E.I.’s French language weekly newspaper and will also be available by email and on Facebook in both French and English.

The answers to the questions will be given one per day on weekdays beginning on Feb. 17, Heritage Day.

They will be given on Radio-Canada’s morning show Le Réveil on 88.1 FM, by email and on Facebook.

They will also be published on Feb. 26 in La Voix Acadienne along with the names of the winners.

Prizes valued at $300 to mark the 300th anniversary of the Acadian and French presence on the Island will be awarded in two categories.

The adult category prizes include a $100 prize for one person with all the correct answers and a $50 participation prize. All those who participate in the quiz and have at least five correct answers will be eligible in a draw for this prize.

The school-age category prizes include a $100 prize for one youth with all the correct answers and a $50 participation prize. All those who participate in the quiz and have at least five correct answers will be eligible in a draw for this prize.

To be eligible to win a prize, all entries must be sent to the historical committee by Feb. 14.

The quiz will be published in French in La Voix Acadienne on Feb. 5. It can also be obtained, in either French or English, by contacting Georges Arsenault at [email protected].

The contest is open to everyone, whether an Islander or living off-Island.
