P.E.I. residents donate to local charities, foundations

Three chapters of the P.E.I. Delta Waterfowl group joined with the Charlottetown Trap and Skeet Club for a fun afternoon shooting sporting clays in support of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the QEH. The first annual event, Shoot for the NICU at the QEH, raised $2,469. From left are Ryan Pineau with the P.E.I. Jeff Ford, owner of Wendell Taylor's Garage in Stratford, presents a cheque for $1,000 to Twilah Stone, president of Prince Edward Island Citizen Advocacy, as part of its ongoing fundraising efforts on behalf of community organizations. During August, the garage donated a portion of its repairs to Citizen Advocacy. Citizen Advocacy provides support to people with intellectual disabilities. - Contributed

The Lot 11 and Area Watershed Management Group recently presented its 2020 Youth Stewardship Award to Avery Bonnis, who has volunteered many hours planting trees, doing beach cleanups and as a junior councillor for the watershed group’s 2019 day camp. O’Leary-Inverness MLA Robert Henderson helped Lot 11 and Area Watershed Group co-ordinator Karen Rank make the presentation. - Contributed

Kim Ladner and Ryan Ladner of Source for Sports in Charlottetown present a $2,700 cheque to the QEH Foundation following their Toonie Footwear Sale. This donation will support COVID-19 equipment needs for the QEH. - Contributed

The Proud Islander program fundraising project is being run by Gilles Arsenault through his family business, It’s All Good Sportswear. Purchase a T-shirt in blue or dark grey, as modelled by Matthew and Brittany Arsenault and their children, Macie, standing, and Amelia, and enter a draw for $1,000 per month until January 2021. For every T-shirt sold, a donation is made to the PCH Foundation and the Tyne Valley Rink Fund. T-shirts are at Source for Sports in Summerside and Charlottetown, Saunders Variety in Alberton and the Évangéline Recreation Centre. The first two draw winners were announced on Canada Day – Sharon McKinnon and Kylee Doucette. - Contributed
