The P.E.I. Potato Board has a new executive.

During the board of director’s Nov. 20 meeting, it was decided that Jason Hayden will continue in the role of chairman.  

Hayden has been on the board for five years, serving as the tablestock director for the Charlottetown district.  He was chairman in 2018-19 and vice-chairman in 2017-18.

He farms with his family in Pownal, where they grow and pack fresh potatoes.  

The new vice-chairman is Wayne Townshend of Fortune Bridge.   

Townshend and his family own and operate Townspud Inc., and he represents the seed sector for the Montague/Souris district.

John Hogg from Summerside will continue in the role of secretary-treasurer.  

He and his family own and operate Klondike Farms, and Hogg represents the processing sector for the Summerside district.

Three new directors were also appointed, including John Griffin of W.P. Griffin Inc., representing the Tablestock sector for the West Prince district; Donald Stavert of Stavert Farms Ltd.,

representing the seed sector for the Summerside district; and Becky Townshend of Townshend Potato Co. Ltd., representing the processing sector for the Montague/Souris district.

The remaining directors include, Glen Rayner, seed, West Prince; Mark MacMillan, processing, Charlottetown; Billy Cameron, seed, Charlottetown; Chad Robertson, tablestock,

Montague/Souris; John Visser, tablestock, Summerside; Craig Wallace, processing, West Prince; and Kyle Maynard, young farmer representative. 

Retiring board members include, Harris Callaghan, tablestock representative for West Prince district; David Francis, seed representative for Summerside District; and Rodney Dingwell, processing representative for the Montague/Souris district.
