2020 was planned to be a year of celebration for Ceilidh in the City, but the world had other plans this year.
However, organizers of this popular summer concert series did not want to have a season that held such a major milestone pass without doing everything possible to celebrate, 10 years of sharing the music and stories of Prince Edward Island.
That phrase has lived true for this concert series, showcasing some of the many wonderful artists P.E.I has – singers, fiddlers, guitar pickers and story tellers.
Bob Boyle, longtime friend of the series’ co-founder, Kendall Docherty, reached out to the band recently, offering the newly constructed stage at the second drive in screen at the Brackley Drive In as an option to host a show. All of a sudden there was a venue that would meet gathering guidelines and allow folks to enjoy a show from the comfort and safety of their own cars.
This special concert will feature some special guests as the ceilidh crew will be joined on stage by singer, fiddler and guitar picker Keelin Wedge, as well as one of the Island’s most loved singer-songwriters, Eddy Quinn.
Wedge and Quinn will be joining the hosts of the ceilidh, Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Brian Blacquiere, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox, live from the Brackley Drive In on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The show will be getting underway at 6:30 p.m. and will run till 8:30 p.m. The admission of $10/person or $30/carload will be charged at the main gate. A canteen service will be available, and there will be a 50/50 draw in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund.
