CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Outdoor movie screenings are returning to Charlottetown at the end of the month.

Presented by the city in partnership with the Confederation Centre of the Arts, Cinema Under the Stars will feature six nights of free, family-friendly movies, serving as a re-imagination of the Victoria Park Sunset Series, a popular late-summer event traditionally held over Labour Day weekend.

Movie screenings will run on the evenings of Monday, Aug. 31 to Saturday, Sept. 5 and will be shown on a large LED screen at the Confederation Centre of the Arts outdoor amphitheater.

The schedule of screenings is as follows:

  • Monday, Aug. 31 – 6:45 p.m. Toy Story 4 (G); 9:15 p.m. The Art of Racing in the Rain (PG)
  • Tuesday, Sept. 1 – 6:45 p.m. Frozen II (PG)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 2 - 6:45 p.m. Toy Story 4 (G); 9:15 p.m. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (PG)
  • Thursday, Sept. 3 – 8:00 p.m. Ford v Ferrari (PG-13)
  • Friday, Sept. 4 – 8:00 p.m. Isn’t It Romantic (PG-13)
  • Saturday, Sept. 5 – 6:45 p.m. Frozen II (PG)

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, capacity is limited for each movie screening and a free ticket is required to attend. Tickets can be reserved online or in person at the Confederation Centre box office beginning Aug. 24 at 12 p.m. A maximum of four tickets per person will be available. Tickets are required for each individual movie.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and once seated, must stay within their designated area. A hand sanitizing station and access to washrooms will be available, along with a list of guidelines that event attendees must follow to ensure safety and physical distancing protocols.

Given the free nature of the event and limited attendee capacities, tickets that are unable to be utilized should be returned to the Confederation Centre Box Office in a timely manner so they may be redistributed to another interested party.
