CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — For six Saturdays from July 13 to Aug. 17, P.E.I.’s fictional Ward 16 will relocate onstage at The Guild in Charlottetown.

Featuring actors Kassinda Bulger, Cameron MacDonald, Rob MacDonald, Nancy McLure, Graham Putnam and Matt Rainnie who each play multiple characters, “Meanwhile in Ward 16” tells a continuing story over the six-week period.

Rob MacDonald, who also directs, said each Saturday will be a different episode.

“The plan is to make audiences laugh while telling several coherent intertwining plot lines, just like a real soap, except for the laugh bit,” he said.

The play takes place in P.E.I., with fictious city counsellor for Ward 16, Jamie Cox.

Other fictional residents of Ward 16 include the reclusive Penny and her daughter, Half Penny; Mitch Hatch, who believes every community needs a good cleansing fire every few decades; The Boys, who will do anything to get in Jamie Cox's good graces; and the members of failed ’80s rock band, Voltage, pronounced Vol-tauge.

“Basically, we're attempting to create a community of truly odd-ball characters and put them into unusual situations,” said MacDonald. “I have no doubt that, whatever happens, it’s going
to be entertaining."

Tickets are available at the door or online at theguildpei.com. Shows start at 8 p.m.
