BROOKFIELD, P.E.I. — Lonnie Atkinson is a retired minister who loves music and that love has served him well over the years.

Singing at weddings and other events helped him pay his way through a university business program.

After that he went to Newfoundland and Labrador and was ordained as a minister, still singing all the way.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m., Brookfield Presbyterian Church will host “Hope, Heart and Home”, a concert featuring Atkinson, who will perform songs from the heart, collected over a lifetime.

The program will include Broadway and gospel favourites.

When Atkinson retired as a minister in an Ontario church, he and his wife moved to Guernsey Cove. This is where he recorded his first album in his neighbour Gordon Belsher’s recording studio.

Admission is $10 at the door. A light lunch will be provided.
