An Island artist has spent his COVID-19 lockdown in his home studio creating almost 20 paintings in just two months.
“I wanted to explore a variety of ways of approaching a subject because I knew I wasn’t going to be selling any of them right away,” says Ben F. Stahl, whose galleries in Charlottetown, Sarasota and East Hampton, N.Y., are closed, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The experience of being in lockdown has taken him in directions he couldn’t imagine.
After creating 19 paintings, ranging from still life to landscapes and figures, abstraction to realism, Stahl is looking for reactions to his work, both the pros and cons.
To display them, a friend of Stahl's will feature a painting on her Facebook page for the next 19 days (one for each painting).
The online exhibit will also feature nudity, so viewer discretion is advised.
The COVID-19 Lockdown art show is inspired by COVID-19. The 19 paintings were done from March 11 to May 11. The paintings, in a variety of mediums, are limited to a space of 12 by 12 inches.
Stahl's work can be found here. His work will also be on view at Details Fine Art Gallery on Victoria Row in Charlottetown when the gallery reopens.
