SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside and Area Historical Society invites the public to attend a talk and tour on the history of the Holman Centre on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m.

A history circle will be held on the lower floor of the Holman Centre, in the room inside the main entrance of the Summerside Farmer’s Market. This will be followed by a tour, taking participants through the lower level, second level and third floor, where there are images displayed that highlight the history of the Holman Centre and Water Street.

Participants are invited to see if they can find their relatives or anyone they might know in the images. Attendees will be welcome to share stories, and are also encouraged to bring in any photos or artifacts relating to the Holman Centre and its history.

The Summerside and Area Historical Society is very active in the preservation of local history. This charitable organization has supported a variety of projects over the decades, including the compilation of veterans’ stories and protection of local artifacts. The group is particularly well-known for its ever-popular History Circles with topics as diverse as hockey, Marine Atlantic Ferries and Summerside Lobster Carnival. They work closely with Culture Summerside and the Eptek Art & Culture Centre, a site of the P.E.I. Museum and Heritage Foundation.

All are welcome to attend the event at 250 Water St. (entering in the Summerside Farmer’s Market entrance at the back of the building).
