A KRHS Peer Helping Training Day is Feb. 14.
Islander Day is Feb. 17, so there will be no classes.
Amanda Moffatt, who was on leave first semester, is back at the school.
The sixth annual P.E.I. Women's Institute Island Youth Cooking Contest took place on Jan. 22.
Grade 10 KRHS student Colby Buch was the overall winner with her P.E.I. Potato Stir Fry. Grade 11 student Ryley MacWilliams will travel to Quebec from Feb. 1 until April 25 to complete his student exchange with Maëli Denoual, a francophone student from Lac-Mégantic, Que.
The 2020 graduating class of Kinkora Regional High School is holding a pancake breakfast on Feb. 16, 9 a.m. to noon, at Kinkora Place. Graduates will be serving pancakes, sausages, hashbrowns, tea, coffee and juice. Admission is by donation with all proceeds going to fund Safe Grad activities for our Grade 12 class. All are welcome.
Montague Regional High School
This week the SAVE group is spreading the message about preventing Family Violence. The highlight of the week is the "Walk in Silence" on Wednesday, where students will walk from Active Communities to MRHS. Other activities include spreading kind messages, a bake sale, and tulip deliveries.
Austin LaPointe advanced to the next round of the 14th annual Polar Expressions Publishing short story contest. His short story will be featured in the collection entitled "Visitors" in late spring.
Yearbooks are available to order now via the link on the website or in-school. The price is $50 until Feb.14 and $52 from Feb. 15 onwards. Don’t miss out … No orders will be taken after Feb.26.
Colonel Gray High School
Staff Appreciation Week is Feb. 10-14.
Parks Canada will be at the school on Monday at lunch time, signing interested students up for summer jobs. Check out the booth outside student services.
The school has new several staff members: Tony Liew (teaching phys.ed.); Sarah Mutch (teaching EAL), BJ Stewart (teaching CEO) and Marianne Tremblay-Abel (teaching French immersion). Also Melanie Labelle has returned (teaching biology and French history).
Report cards will be sent home with students this week.
February is a busy for university visits at lunch time at Colonel Gray: Mount St. Vincent on Feb. 11 (also offering free admission), Acadia University on Feb. 12, St. Mary’s University on Feb. 13 (pizza lunch), St. Thomas University on Feb. 14 and University of New Brunswick on Feb. 25.
Free Triple P-Positive Parenting seminars will be held Feb. 18, Feb. 25 and March 3 at Murphy’s Community Centre (room 207), 7-8:30 p.m. - Triple P is an international project promoted and supported by the government of PEI. There are three sessions in the seminar series, and each session addresses a different theme. Contact [email protected].
Plan to wear pink on Feb. 26 to be part of Pink Shirt Day, symbolizing school and society rejection of bullying in schools, workplaces, homes or over the internet.
Charlottetown Rural High School
Upcoming University visits include Feb. 12 Saint Thomas University will be here during lunch.
On Feb. 12 UPEI will be here at 2 p.m. to present to students about scholarships. Any students who are interested in attending, must sign up in student services.
On Feb. 18 Holland College will be here during the day to meet one on one with students and answer any questions they might have regarding their application, scholarships, etc.
