Kinkora Regional High School

The end of the first semester is in sight with final exams set for Jan. 27-31. Feb. 3 is a turn-around day with no classes, and Feb. 4 is the first day of the second semester.

The Grade 11 students reign supreme, winning Yuletide Yippeetime. This was a week-long contest prior to Christmas Break, pitting grade versus grade in a variety of fun, festive activities. 

Log on to officepools.com for results of the ongoing hockey pool. The ID is Kinkora and the password is guest. Current leaders are Rachel Paynter, Neil Campbell and Chris McCardle.

Looking ahead, the February Safe Grad activity is night skiing on Feb. 7 at the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale. A Safe Grad pancake breakfast fundraiser on Feb. 16 at Kinkora Place, 9 a.m. to noon.
 
Montague Regional High School

The exam period runs Jan. 27-31. A schedule is available on the school website. Students are reminded that consistent review of class material prior to and during exam week will help to ensure a successful end-of-semester.  

There are no classes Feb. 3 as it is school effectiveness day. Second semester begins on Feb. 4.

Isabella Sibbick and Kathleen Ryan have each received the French Student Excellence Award from Canadian Parents for French, P.E.I. branch. This is a bursary (valued at $750) for a week-long trip to Ottawa to attend the Encounters with Canada program in 2020. 

Montague Regional High School is one of six Island schools participating in the School Food Project. The model MRHS is test-piloting involves working with existing vendors to prepare and deliver healthy meals to students. 

Colonel Gray High School

Last week, the Key Club and the Red Cross Club worked together to raise funds for the Australian Red Cross, in support of disaster relief.

Also, last week, there was a MADD Canada powerful assembly about the consequences of impaired driving.

The Grade 11 Math Assessment is Jan. 27, and final exams will continue to Jan. 31, following blocks A to D each day. Check the school website for specific dates of each exam.

A Triple P Dealing with Disobedience session will be held on Jan. 30, and a Triple P Managing Fighting and Aggression session will be held on Feb. 4. Contact the student wellbeing team office at Colonel Gray for more details.

Holland College will be hosting campus tour day on Feb. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (storm date, Feb. 8). Students applying for courses on this day will have the normal application fee waived and a chance to win a $500 tuition credit.

Report cards will be sent home with students on Feb. 7.

Charlottetown Rural High School

Grade 12 arts students form Colonel Gray and Charlottetown Rural invite all members of the public to join them at the opening reception of their Art Show at the Gallery at The Guild. It will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 22.
