Charlottetown Rural
The students and staff at the Charlottetown Rural High School (CRHS) were happy to host the second annual Healthy Harvest celebration on Oct. 22. The Healthy Harvest is a showcase of a variety of foods produced using vegetables and fruits grown and harvested by the school. The goal is to promote healthy eating and further develop the understanding of where our food comes from. The harvest is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the school’s leadership and culinary classes, International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and the Inclusive Education Department. Special thanks to Island Meadow Farms and Atlantic Grown Organics.
Cross country
Charlottetown Rural hosted the PEISAA Cross Country Championships on Oct. 15 with more than 400 runners from schools across the province. The Raiders had a fantastic day with both the juvenile girls and senior boys capturing provincial banners. A special congratulations to Rural Raider Caleb Gagne for capturing the individual gold for senior boys. Thank you to all participants for your commitment and hard work in school sport.
Tutor program
Want to earn some extra cash? Need a tutor for extra help? Apply to the CRHS tutor program in student services. We will match tutors with students who are looking for help. Tutors will earn $15 per hour. Students must be in Grade 11 or 12 to be considered a tutor.
Pearson College (UWC)
Applicants applying through the UWC National Committee of Canada (NCC) must be at least one of the following: Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, resident of Canada for at least 12 months, a student who cannot apply through a UWC national committee in their country of residence or citizenship. Applicants are encouraged to apply during their Grade 11 year. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by Sept. 1 of the year they will enter UWC. The majority of students begin their studies at age 17. Deadline to apply is Nov. 15. More info and application is available online.
House of Commons page program
Each year 40 students from high schools and CEGEPs are selected from across Canada to participate in the page program. Pages are undergraduate students who are attending university full time in one of the four universities in the national capital region. They work part time during their first year of study. Nov. 8 is the deadline to apply. More information is available here.
Google classroom
Grade 12 students are invited to join the CRHS Grad Class 2021 Google Classroom. You will receive information on scholarships, university information, deadlines and other important information.

Terry Fox Run
Our 40th annual KRHS Terry Fox Run was held on Sept. 30 with all funds raised going to cancer research. This year, we raised $1,105. Congratulations to Grade 12 student Ty Arsenault for raising the most pledge money.
Library
October is Canadian Library Month. The KRHS library is open every day before school, during class, at breaks, at noon, and after school. Special thanks to teacher librarian Shelley Tremere.
