Kinkora Regional High School
The annual Christmas concert, featuring the KRHS concert gand, will be held Dec. 17.
Maëli Denoual, a francophone exchange student from Lac-Mégantic, Que., was staying with the family of Ryley MacWilliams for the past three months. Her last day here at KRHS was Nov. 29. She returned to her home school in Quebec, and Ryley will be joining her there in February to complete the student exchange.
A school lunch program pilot in the Kinkora family of schools (Kinkora Regional High School, Somerset Consolidated and Amherst Cove Consolidated) will go ahead in early 2020. Kinkora will serve as a centralized kitchen (hub) and will prepare and distribute meals to the other two schools.

The Liberations of The Netherlands 75 trip, which takes place April 28 to May 7, 2020, commemorates the 75th anniversary since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Forty-six KRHS students will be visiting France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Students are selling 50/50 tickets every Tuesday evening at the Kinkora BINGO and every Thursday evening at the Borden-Carleton Bingo. Montague Regional High School
Come and enjoy the Christmas musical that the MRHS Music Department wrote, “Counting Down to Christmas”. It is the story of a group of high school music students getting ready for their annual Christmas concert who encounter some serious challenges. The show is Dec. 12, 7 p.m. (storm date: Dec. 16) in the auditorium, and tickets are $6 each or $5 for students and seniors. There will also be a cake auction and bake sale to help raise funds for the Disney Ensemble, and food bank donations will be accepted.
Students took part in SAVE week recently, including a door decorating contest with the theme “my actions matter”, collecting donations for Anderson House, a purple ribbon campaign and a green-shirt day.
Art after Dark takes place tonight.
Students are looking forward to the Christmas dance on Dec. 13.
The last day of classes for 2019 is Dec. 20.
Colonel Gray High School
Classes will be cancelled on Dec. 11 for Colonel Gray students only. This is to allow for an extra professional development day for staff.
The holiday concert will still take place on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Come and get in the Christmas spirit by listening to the music performed by music students under the direction of Shawn Doiron.
On Dec. 12, there will be a winter formal dance. There will be a guest DJ, free snow cones, a photo booth with prints and a surprise visitor from the North Pole. Students bringing in a non-perishable food item will get a reduced dance ticket price of $8 (from $10).
Charlottetown Rural High School
The drafting and design course, through an educational grant from Brilliant Labs received a new 3D printer.
Using autocad, students will be able to design 3D models and create physical prototypes.
