CORNWALL, P.E.I. — Phase II and Friends will perform their popular Happy Days show in Cornwall on Sunday, Aug. 25, 7 p.m.

This is the first time this year that the band will do this particular event as a concert. They've done a couple of Happy Days dances, but not the concert version.

"We're really looking forward to this", says frontman Gerry Hickey. "We love to play in this venue, as the church community is so welcoming. Leah Eldershaw and her committee are wonderful folks to work with. On a personal note, I feel that I owe the audience who attended our last concert there in the spring a little bit of payback. Due to a health issue, I had to leave the show at intermission, an absolute first for me. Needless to say, the rest of the group stepped up and finished the performance in fine style. I'm grateful to the band and the audience for their concern and their professionalism. "

Along with Keila Glydon and Jeanie Campbell, there is a special bonus addition of Heather McAulay and Nicole Cannell. This mom and daughter pair performed for many years in a Halifax production called “The Soda Shop Gang”, a charitable group who donated very substantial proceeds to various charities throughout Atlantic Canada, including Charlottetown.

And for anyone who saw last year’s show, there will be plenty of new songs to enjoy in 2019.

“We don't want our audience to be bored or feel that way ourselves,” says Hickey. “Our musicians love to be challenged, and I love to accommodate them.”

A total of 25 songs from a great musical era will have the audience tapping their toes, clapping their hands and singing along. A few brave souls may even get up and dance.

Coffee and treats are available from the kitchen, and the band's new CD, released only last week, will be available for purchase. For each CD sold, the band will donate $5 to the church.
