CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Celtic music group Guinness will perform at Friday’s ceilidh at the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre.
The Benevolent Irish Society Ceilidh Series, which runs until Nov. 13, features Irish, Scottish and Maritime traditional music at the centre.
Guinness, which features Jim and Laura Farrell, has been playing for audiences in North America and Ireland since 1981.
The Farrells are now based in P.E.I., but still perform internationally.
They accompany their singing on guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and tin whistle.
Also, part of the vocals for this group is their youngest son, Paddy, who plays the Bodhran very well and often will entertain with a bit of lively step dancing.
There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the licensed, wheelchair accessible and air-conditioned hall and a light snack will be served during the intermission.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m.
Admission price is $15 at the door. Children 12 and under remain at $5.
Everyone is welcome, but due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, only 50 people can be in the hall, so those planning on attending are encouraged to arrive to be sure to get a seat.
