SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — This year marks the 20th anniversary of the telling of the history of Halloween and the darker side of Island history through Culture Summerside’s Historic Ghostwalk.
Culture Summerside, the arts, heritage, and culture division of the City of Summerside, is excited to have received permission from the Chief Public Health Office to go ahead with the event in the era of COVID-19.
However, it does mean changes. For the Oct. 22 show, there will be no walk through the historic district to meet the spirits who recount their stories.
Rather there will be three shows offered on the lawn of Wyatt Heritage Properties, where the spirits will present themselves to the audience.
Tickets must be reserved for the shows being offered at 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There will be two cohorts of 50 permitted at each show.
To mark the 20th milestone, the show will be a "best of" stories from the past 20 years. The Ghostwalk faithful were asked to name the stories they would like to hear again.
Since new stories are discovered and researched each year through the MacNaught History Centre and Archives, it was not an easy task to select which ones the volunteer actors would again bring to life.
