CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Island folk music group Fiddler’s Sons, featuring Eddy Quinn, John B. Webster, Courtney Hogan-Chandler and Keelin Wedge, will take the stage at the ceilidh Friday, Oct. 18, at the Irish Hall. Friday marks the closing of the Ceilidh season at the Society.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Rd. There will be a 50/50 draw and a lunch at intermission. For more information call 902-213-3924.
Quinn is the lead vocalist as well as playing guitar and Bodhran. He has released two solo albums for which he has received four P.E.I. Music Awards. In 2017, the band marked their 20-year anniversary with the release of a compilation album of their most requested songs - Fiddlers' Sons: The Best of Twenty Years.
Webster is the lead guitarist and back-up vocalist. He grew up on the Station Road in Cardigan. His father Jackie was a fiddle player and his grandfather Jack had a band called “Jack Webster’s Orchestra” which played all over Kings County and was extremely popular in their time. Webster and Quinn met at guitar lessons in Lorne Valley and the rest is history.
Wedge, the newest member of the group, is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Quinn describes her voice as "like an angel”.
Hogan-Chandler is known as the "Fiddling Veterinarian". Besides performing and recording with the group, she has released two CDs of her own. Hogan-Chandler has recently released a collaboration album with bandmate Wedge titled "Dark and Amber Rosin".
