Entering its 15th year of touring shows for seniors, Young at Heart Theatre is thrilled to announce another partnership with Fascinating Ladies.

Its latest show, Fascinating Maritime Ladies, will tour to seniors' facilities, community halls and church halls across P.E.I. throughout March and April.

The original Fascinating Ladies show had its early beginnings as a Young at Heart production. Additionally, it had an annual limited run at Victoria Playhouse for the next two years.

Since then, the creative trio of artists Kelley Mooney, Allison Kelly and Catherine O’Brien have developed a well-received Christmas show that had successful performances in Victoria and Georgetown.

Their newest offering, Fascinating Maritime Ladies, will celebrate some of the wonderful female singers and songwriters from the East Coast and Quebec. Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, Ginette Reno, Catherine Mackinnon, The Rankin Family, Edith Butler and many more artists will be explored; with the Fascinating Ladies’ tight harmonies, choreography and delightful banter.

There will be opportunities for the audience to sing along to some of their favourites and even learn a few dance steps.

In partnership with the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture, The Seniors’ Secretariat, the Rotary Club of Charlottetown and New Horizons for Seniors, Young at Heart Theatre will tour to over 30 venues across P.E.I.

A special opening-night performance is March 11, 7 p.m., at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Charlottetown.  This show will be a fundraiser for the theatre and will feature special guest Margie Carmichael. Admission is $20 or pay what you can at the door.

Young at Heart Theatre is a charity organization dedicated to improving the lives of seniors though theatre, music and social interaction, said board member Steve Forbes.

“We are the only group of this type east of Ontario.  We tour our shows to nursing homes, community care facilities and manors, and other places where seniors gather. This allows many seniors who may have mobility or other health issues to participate,” he said.

This year they can also offer transportation assistance. Anyone wishing to attend one of the shows and needs a ride, contact Young at Heart Theatre at: [email protected].
