CORNWALL, P.E.I. — An ecumenical prayer service for the Care of Creation will take place on Friday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Cornwall.
The Season of Creation begins each Sept. 1 and ends on Oct. 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.
The service offers to Christians and to the community a precious opportunity to gather in song and prayer, to renew their participation in the vocation of custodians of creation, to raise our voices in praise and thanksgiving for the marvels of creation, to invoke God’s help for the protection of creation and to ask God’s mercy for the wrongs committed against the world they live in.
This service is organized by the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Charlottetown with participation by sister churches and music under the direction of Leo Marchildon.
All are invited to attend. There will be a choir practice for all interested in joining the music ministry at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 before the service. Refreshments will be offered after the service.
