In an effort to celebrate and support the seniors in Charlottetown who are not travelling south this winter, Downtown Charlottetown Inc. has asked the local business community for ideas in creating small, COVID-19-safe and private events and opportunities for these snowbirds to keep active this winter.
Activities might include restaurant private room group dinners, local tours, cooking classes, after-hours private shopping group, art classes, outdoor adventures like sleigh rides and skates, coffee groups, weekend hotel packages, cocktail hours, indoor golf sessions, card parties, music, guest speaker sessions and more.
Many local businesses have already stepped up to host this group with special offers and the snowbirds can now sign up and take advantage of these exclusive events, designed to cater to them. Membership is free, and everyone who signs up will receive a card which will identify them as member.
“For many of our residents (snowbirds), who would traditionally be settled in their southern residence by now, it’s been years since they wintered on P.E.I. We want to remind them how wonderful a P.E.I. winter can be and how we can accommodate this special group (and all our seniors) in a variety of safe, fun, private activities,” said Dawn Alan, executive director of Downtown Charlottetown Inc.
