CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Jeff Likely, branch manager of TD Canada Trust in Charlottetown, says he can think of no better way to show the company’s pride in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community than by displaying the Pride colours on the outside of the business, located at the corner of Kent and Queen streets in Charlottetown.
The Pride P.E.I. Festival takes place July 26 to Aug. 2.
The first Pride march took place on the Island in 1994 and has been growing in popularity ever since with thousands of people lining the streets of Charlottetown.
Organizers for this year's Pride parade say while the event will look different due to the coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) pandemic, it is still a go and they are contemplating what will be possible with health restrictions and physical distancing guidelines in place.
“We are committed to putting on some version of the festival," said Pride P.E.I.'s Tyler Murnaghan told The Guardian earlier this month.
“We are looking at different options for what a parade could look like with social distancing measures."
