Bark for Life P.E.I. recently met with the Canadian Cancer Society, P.E.I. Division to turn in funds raised during the 2019 calendar year.
Throughout the year, Bark for Life P.E.I. organized numerous events in order to raise much-needed funds. A committee of volunteers runs Bark for Life P.E.I. on a yearly basis.
The committee’s event, Bark for Life, took Victoria Park by storm on June 15 where close to 100 pet owners and their dogs came together.
They spent a few hours during this fair-like event taking in an opening and closing ceremony, training demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, a doggie kissing booth, information kiosks and more.
The committee also held its second annual Howl-o-ween Pet Pix at Victoria Park leading up to Halloween, where owners got professional photos taken of their pets in front of a spooky Halloween display.
Lastly, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, the committee (along with the help of dog owners) put together dog-friendly recipes and created the very first Bone Appétit A PAWSitively Perfect Cookbook – a cookbook for dogs.
Thanks to KKP P.E.I., this 52-page full colour cookbook was designed and printed free of charge as its way in helping raise much-needed funds for the cause.
This cookbook flew off the shelves, and in just a few short weeks the committee successfully sold out its stock of 200 recipe books.
The organizing committee announced that during 2019, it turned in a grand total of $26,878.11.
Since its debut in 2014, Bark for Live P.E.I. has raised a total of $151,987.64. The funds are allocated to programs like sending kids to camp, Wigs for Women, cancer care kits, the Financial Assistance Program and more.
Bark for Live P.E.I. celebrates canine companions, while contributing to the Canadian Cancer Society’s efforts to eradicate cancer and ease the burden for people in P.E.I. facing the disease.
